Ebook About Nikolas Hadden is the master of his universe. He’s the leader of one of the most powerful Covens in the Eastern United States and he owns the premier club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Imperial Club is where one needs to be seen if they want to be taken seriously. Pittsburgh is a city of class distinction, entrance to the Imperial is the line between the haves and the have-nots. His position may seem assured but there are dark forces in Pittsburgh that would love nothing more than to take even a slice of the power that Nik has amassed for himself. In the midst of this power play, the last thing Nik expects is to find is his beloved leaning against a pillar in a hand-me-down suit. Nik is transfixed by the beauty of Walker Hall and makes it his mission to win the man’s heart forever. But Pittsburgh is a hard city and nothing comes easy, not business and certainly not love. Walker Hall is a twenty-one-year-old auto mechanic from the wrong side of the tracks. He doesn’t have delusions of grandeur. He just wants a job he loves and a comfortable place to call home. When his best friend Stanley secures tickets to the biggest party of the year at The Imperial Club, Walker immediately feels out of his element. This isn’t his crowd and they are going to know it the minute they see him. Walker is floored by the raven-haired stud who swoops into his life and leads him on a night of passion and decadence. What Walker doesn’t understand is that Nik has designs going far beyond tonight and that he has just stepped into a zero-sum world of vampires, love, and danger. Will Walker accept the role destiny has chosen for him? Pittsburgh is a hard city of hard choices.Book Meant To Be: Pittsburgh Vampires Vol. 1 Review :
I find that EXTREMELY hard to believe. "Beloved" was used in reference to a character 27 times by the end of chapter four. TWENTY SEVEN. Please someone tell me how any editor would think that such an incredible over use of a word, would work out for a book. Oh and it basically appears on every page thereafter, I just refused to waste more time counting and reading this. I made it to 54% and had to call it quits. i have read shorter stories with much better character development, world building, and of course, editing. This book was not only bad, but phenomenally bad. And they price it at $3 ? Absolutely not. I will be asking for a refund and will add this author to my "do not ever read, even if you're bored" list. I've been meaning to write a review of this book for quite a while, and I'm finally disciplining myself to do so!This is indeed a short read, as other reviewers have noted, but I don't think it's the worse for it. It conveys all the salient information without endless narration. We immediately understand that Walker comes from a less-than-privileged background and doesn't have much in the way of a support system aside from his friend Stanley. We also quickly get the point that the vampire coven is hiding in plain sight, their opulent nightclub a foil for their deeply insular community.Nik is accustomed to wielding power, and he discovers that when it comes to Walker, he no longer holds all the cards. Walker must be courted, not commanded, and this throws Nik off his game.None of these obstacles are too difficult for the characters to overcome in their pursuit of their HEA, of course!I wouldn't have minded a slightly more sophisticated villain and a bit more editing, but the main characters and their personalities are so well drawn that these seem like petty quibbles.Although Nik makes appearances in subsequent books in the series, I'd love to see more of Walker, especially as he grows into his own leadership role as the master vampire's beloved.
